The new MYKITA collection is ready and waiting to be discovered. As promised, here is a small preview of MYKITA's eyewear highlights for the Spring/Summer 2014 season.

EDMUND & HUDSON combine the sports/casual look with perfect protection against bright light. The duo’s design are inspired by expansive 1950s frames. Wide temples and a wide bridge avert sunrays from above and the sides, while the snug-fitting brow-line and nose similarly keep incoming light to a minimum. Bold frame colours combined with mirrored lenses deliver protection and excellent vision, whether resting your eyes on distant mountains, the glittering sea or the person sitting next to you.

The fine construction coupled with an eccentric double bridge and the Guadeloupe/Gold Flash colour combination gives NADA a flamboyant charm.

Taking materials to the limits of what is possible makes the hearts at MYKITA beat a little faster. The model NADA is a case in point. The delicate frame is made of acetate, a material ostensibly associated with the very opposite; acetate frames are normally bold and chunky. The fine construction coupled with an eccentric double bridge and the Guadeloupe/Gold Flash colour combination gives NADA a flamboyant charm.

OLGA is a statement – neither round nor angular, rather belonging to the pneumatic category. The extremely full-bodied material used for OLGA gives this model a sculpture-like look. Black, jade-style Misty Green, sky-coloured Misty Blue and translucent Taupe each make their own contribution to ensuring that this model leaves a lasting impression.

The conscious two-dimensional design of the PHILOMENE and PHILO models gives these frames a scissors-shaped silhouette. A defining concept behind these frames was the circle as a geometric element. The combination of glossy gold and silver with a silky matt finish reinforces this impression and emphasises the contrasting frame dimensions. Low-set double bridges and prominent, pinched top corners create a new elegance.

The ultra-thin frames are the quintessence of MYKITA design: a manifestation of tradition and zeitgeist.

The feature of the season: the bridge. In the case of NIILO and ELLINOR, the functional element becomes an explicit form-related feature, arched in the former and sporting a double bridge in the latter. Inspired by the early phase of modern hand-crafted eyewear of the 1920s and 1930s, the original form was given supersized proportions but with an extremely filigree structure. The ultra-thin frames are the quintessence of MYKITA design: a manifestation of tradition and zeitgeist.

The major fashion trend of the past season, colour blocking, now has another manifestation in the shape of the ARETHA model. The two-tone front gives the frame a horizontal cut that produces a radical separation of the coloured surfaces. Intense colours contrast with pastel tones from the same spectrum. Each of the butterfly-shaped frames is painted by hand.
