PRESENTING: "LOOK STOLE MY BITCH", BERNHARD WILLHELM SS2014

Bernhard Willhelm‘s designs are known for their singularity. Instead of following trends, the designer duo often creates new ones by breaking with all manner of established conventions. For the Spring/Summer 2014 season, the brand once more opted to forgo the conventional runway show – or any kind of live presentation – in favour of creating an exceptional photo-shoot for the collection’s lookbook.

The SS14 collection is about the arrival of Bernhard Willhelm to Los Angeles, California. The lookbook features a charismatic set of mature models showing off Willhelm’s luxe sports aesthetic which combines very loose, or very tight, high-tech fabrics with boldly printed motifs. The recurring scissors theme signifies the designer’s cut-off from Paris and arrival in LA. The slashed and cut-off dresses are also a reference to this change. The inverted mouths and eyes of Hollywood stars used as a digital print theme for the garments are a typically surprising element revealing Willhelm’s sense of humour and subversion.

Last but not least Bernhard Willhelm was also influenced by the segment “Bitch Stole My Look” on the American TV show Fashion Police presented by Joan Rivers. The well-known fashion TV show features Joan and other high-profile ‘judges’ that discuss and give verdict on the good deeds and occasional crimes within the celebrity fashion scene. The designer inverted the title and made it “Look Stole My Bitch”.

Complementing the sportswear inspired looks is “HUBERT”, the new sunglasses model and latest instalment to MYKITA‘s on-going design series with the now Los Angeles based designer.

HUBERT is already available for purchase online at all MYKITA Shops, selected opticians, fashion outlets worldwide, and online at the MYKITA E-Shop.
