BEFORE NIGHT FALLS
Arranged for a group shot, a smartly dressed crowd turn their faces skyward to watch an occurrence concealed from our view. These atmospheric pictures recall the arranged shots of a semi-formal extended family affair, but there is something supernatural about the presentation. Firstly, there are no fashion faux pas in this Maison Margiela-clad crowd, then there is also the mysteriously fixed gaze they all wear behind their MYKITA + Maison Margiela glasses.
MYKITA and Maison Margiela team up with French photographer Charles Fréger for a second time to shoot their annual campaign. This time the urban industrial environment of the first lookbook is exchanged for a country setting in the outskirts of Paris.
The ESSENTIAL collection welcomes two new styles to the existing range. Keeping to the geometrical theme, new models MMESSE009 and MMESSE010 introduce rims in circular and triangular shapes respectively; both models feature a thin metal double bridge. Another addition is a new colourway in the darkest red: the frames in E7-Red come with Dark Purple Flash lenses.
The attendees of this unexplained celebratory affair are pictured in the MYKITA + Maison Margiela sunglass frames to reflect the daytime sunrays, but as night begins to fall the stylish set appear in the optical version of the collection. The different light conditions of the images neatly highlight the two functional aspects of the fashionable eyewear, which come with protective or corrective lenses.
